Inside The Box

boAt 121 v2 wireless Earbuds comes in a standard box with two earbuds, one charging case, user manual, warranty card, USB charging cable, two additional rubber earmuffs (one small and one big), and a catalogue of other boAt products.

The box and the case are wrapped with a transparent sheet. Let’s first activate its warranty by giving a missed call on +91 9223032222.

Connectivity

It comes with Bluetooth v5.0 and insta wake n’ pair technology. The earbuds automatically pair to any mobile phone or other device within seconds after taking them out of the case. After establishing a successful connection, the device beeps. Both the earbuds automatically connect, and you have to do nothing. The connection works well at a maximum range of 10m.

Putting them inside the case will disconnect the Bluetooth connection. At the same time, both earbuds will start charging.

While playing games like BGMI & Free Fire, we discovered a low latency of approximately 250ms. The audio-video sync isn’t good that makes it a no-use for professional players.

Overall, there are no connectivity issues with boAt 121 v2 TWS earbuds, but the audio-video sync (while playing games) needs improvement.

Design & Ergonomics

Earbuds and their case are entirely made of plastic. The case weighs nearly 32g and has a dimension of 6.7×2.7×3.2 cm. However, the earbuds are lightweight and weigh only 4g. They easily fit into ears and also cover them blocking unnecessary outside noise for a good audio experience.

But, after using it for more than half an hour, ear pain starts. So, we have to take a break in between listening to songs. Generally, this issue comes when we don’t use earphones much.

boAt Airdopes 121 v2 is not resistant to dust and water. You can’t expose them to dust directly or submerge them in water. However, sweat will not affect them as it comes with an IPX rating of 4.

Overall, the build quality is good, but one has to use them carefully.

Sound Quality

The boAt airdopes 121 v2 wireless earbuds come with an 8mm driver that offers an immersive sound experience. You can listen to hours of blissful music at high volume without any distortion. These earbuds support stereo calling and have a mic.

The bass is good, and the vocals of the music are audible. However, you will experience echoes in crowded places while taking calls. The background noises can make it a bit unclear and distant.

Overall, the sound quality is good but can be better if the echo effect is removed while calling.

Controls

The boAt airdopes 121 v2 comes with multifunction button controls. You can control song (play & pause), pick-up calls, end calls, and talk with the assistant by pressing the button on either earbud.

Single tap to control song (play & pause) or pick-up call or disconnect it. Double-tap to change the music and hold the button for 2 seconds to talk with an assistant.

To turn off earbuds manually, long-press the button on either earbud. And, you can do the same to turn them on.

There is no option to control volume through the earbud.

Overall, the buttons are multifunctional but using them makes it a bit uncomfortable as it pushes them further into the ear canal.

Battery

The boAt airdopes 121 v2 earbuds offer a total playback time of up to 14 hrs. Each earbud has a charging capacity of 40mAh, and the case has a battery capacity of 380mAh. It means that the carrying cum charging case can charge your earbuds up to 3 times.

When tested at full volume, earbuds worked for about 3 hours, and their charging case charged them from 0 to 100 in about 1 hour.

The case full charges in approximately 2 hrs and provides a total standby time of 100 hrs which is more than sufficient.

Earbuds and charging case comes with LED indicators. The indicator on the earbud blinks red while charging and blinks blue when it is fully charged. And, the case comes with a percentage indicator.

Overall, the charging capacity is good.

Final Verdict

The boAt is India’s number 1 earwear brand and is known for its best-class sound experience. The boAt airdopes 121 v2 TWS wireless earbuds are affordable and offer an immersive sound experience. The battery backup is decent, and the Bluetooth connectivity is good.

However, these airdrops are not a good pick for professional gamers as it doesn’t have perfect audio-video sync. You can experience a latency of more than 200ms while playing games.
