Paatal Lok Movie Review: The Amazon prime web series stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Abhishek Banerjee, Gul Pang, and Neeraj Kabi in very significant roles. Neeraj Kabi plays the role of a forty-year-old journalist in the web series. He amazes the audience with some of the harsh words, to which you can agree without any second thoughts.
You must be aware of the assassination of Gauri Lankesh and the plight of several other journalists who are trolled, attacked, hated, and at the time even gone. Paatal Lok brings a similar story to the limelight.
The series commences with four goons being caught on the bridge of the Yamuna River. They are handed to Inspector Chaudhary to the nearest Thana. The paatal lok web series showcases the idea that the entire universe is divided into three spheres: swarg lok, dharti lok and paatal lok.
The paatal lok segment consists of vermin, which includes the goons, gangsters, and bad guys. These vermin are chased by policemen like Chaudhary, who have no option but to risk their lives in order to put the goons behind the bars. Hathiram Chaudhary’s father leaves him an ugly trunk and holds the past where he was ridiculed by his classmates. The case in the series revolves around Sanjeev Mehra’s survival after he was planned carefully to go up. Once inspector Hathiram begins his investigation, he is dragged to some of the most horrid corners of Paatal lok. His leads include the four people who have been caught previously, one girl and three guys.
Talking about Paatal Lok review, in the nine episodes of the Amazon prime series, you will visit all the three spheres of the universe. The realization will dawn upon you that Swarg lok is not so great after all and the inhabitants of Paatal lok are not just some crawlies. In the web series, the three spheres can be seen overlapping and percolating into each other just to hit you with the harsh truth of mankind.
Directors, Avinash Arun Dhawre and Prosit Roy have beautifully given head and tail to the story penned down by Sudip Sharma. The paatal lok web series will take you to all the nooks and canneries of what our country is dealing with in the year 2020. The dirty politics of the country has been woven into the narrative of the series to make you feel glutted.
You will encounter a saffron mob, which will assassinate a Muslim boy. The loopholes in our system have been pushed into your face. You will realize how the idea of a secular nation has been torn apart.

Paatal Lok definitely covers a lot of contradictory life, fancy bungalows in Delhi, and Dalit homes with bottled water and well-cooked food. The incidents brought into the limelight through these series just remind the audience of the conditions in a different part of India. You will feel taken to the past with mob lynching incidents due to controversies over cow meat, which turned out to be very different from the main issue.
You will also be taken back to the incident when the BJP minister broke bread with Dalit people in a Dalit household. And will later obviously find out that the case was false. Paatal Lok series only wins among the different spheres because the manner in which the significant cases are being handled.
You might think that the characters are shown in the web series, probably live in your neighbourhood and you may relate to most of them. If you are an inhabitant of swarg lok you will closely relate to Neeraj Kabi and Swastika Mukherji. If your life is closely knitted to Dharti Lok you will find Gul Panag and Jaideep Ahlawat more relatable to you. The latter’s house has his share of tussles with his growing son and brother-in-law.
In Paatal Lok, each and every character has a dreadful past that makes them the person they are in the present. No part in the series look very forced just to increase the run time of the show. The fantastic editing keeps you off the edge and each episode ends on a cliff-hanger. The star cast has played their roles very beautifully and has justified every ounce of their character.
In no small measure has Jaideep Ahlawat stolen the frame with his outstanding performance. In his ‘vardi’ he has successfully brought futility and frustration into the limelight. His character reveals that how a person like him has a price to pay in the well-oiled system of the government.
Ishwak Singh has played the role of a first-gen cop who successfully wants the UPSE seat at any cost. He is very industrious and does not want any burden of his surname. He uses his identity for his own benefit and also to root out the criminals by interrogating them.
