It is very obvious that the Bollywood industry has come to a standstill as the pandemic does not seem to be under control and rather has increasing cases with every day passing by. In no small measure are the filmmakers facing trouble with deciding whether to sell their films to the OTT platforms? The fortune of the films will either have good luck or bad luck packed for them!
There have been several announcements in the recent past about various OTT platforms purchasing legal rights of the films, which have decided to opt-out of the theatrical race. Recently, media sources reported that Amazon Prime has officially purchased the legal rights of the film Jhund, starring Amitabh Bachchan.
Sources have confirmed that the film will be released on the online streaming platform, instead of waiting for the long queue of films which will release on big screens after the lockdown comes to an end. The film is a T-Series production. It seems that the producers felt that it is better to give the rights away to a streaming platform instead of waiting for the situation to get better. It is very obvious that even after the lockdown comes to end, the theatres will not open anytime soon keeping in mind the concept of social distancing.

The filmmakers have definitely have had a very hard time since the money invested in the company is hanging in the air, considering how much money can actually be recovered. Now with the doors of the theatres shut, a large chuck of money which could have been retrieved is locked. Thus, the filmmakers are forced to look out for other available options, which will cover their cost of investment. The most convenient way for the makers seems to directly sell the legal rights of the film to some OTT platform.
However, coming back to the film Jhund, an official announcement is yet to be made. The much-awaited film is helmed by the very talented director-producer Nagraj Manjule and stars Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role. The film revolves around the life experiences of Vijay Barse. The biography focuses on the retired sports professor who has founded an NGO for an outstanding cause. He is the founder of Slum Soccer and the story basically brings all his teachings and life as a sports teacher into the limelight. The film also features Vicky Kadian and Ganesh Deshmukh, who enjoy significant roles in the film.
Furthermore, not only Jhund will be released on the OTT platform but even Ludo will be released soon. The film Ludo stars Abhishek Bachchan and Rajkummar Rao in lead roles. The chances of the much-awaited film to be released on the streaming site are very high considering the pathetic ground situation. All you can do is wait for the authorities to announce the news officially until then enjoy the other films on different OTT platforms.
