The spiced up controversy of the remake of the song from the film, ‘Masakali 2.0’ has been joined by the renowned filmmaker Hansal Mehta. The controversy is based on the fact the original song composed by A.R Rahmanyears ago for the film ‘Delhi 6’ has been illegitimately taken by the producers of the new film, without his consent.
The new release has faced a lot of criticism from the critics as well as music lovers. The novel song has not been welcomed by the open arms of the audience. The unique and original song was written by Prasoon Joshi for the movie ‘Delhi 6’ starred by Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor.
In the heated one-sided debate, the filmmaker has asked the audience to condemn practices that are not by any means legitimate. He strongly believes that the practice of remaking original songs can be stopped if the audience does not encourage it since the success of any project is largely dependent upon the general public.
He argues that there are many versions of original songs on the YouTube platform and thus the music cooperations do not hesitate to produce such songs. If the audience stops watching such films, stops watching such songs and stops enjoying such projects then eventually such a practice will come to an end.
Creation of such remakes is nothing but an insult to the unique creator of the beautiful project. The original project involves composers, lyricist, musicians and behind the scene workers and considering their hard work it is just not fair to steal ideas and concepts.
Hansal Mehta took to his Twitter handle to thrash the new release, “Sure. I’m reacting to the terrible, ear-shattering #Masakali model. However, examine its YouTube views in 48 hrs. Then see how DJs blast it on occasions. And the way individuals groove to the godawful model. S**t sells. Whereas we cringe, someone is laughing his method to the financial institution,”
His tweet is very evident of the fact that his rage for such practices has reached the boiling point. Considering that he is one of the best film makers Bollywood has seen, he clearly does not put up with the wrongdoings and nuisance when it comes to talent.
Also, this is not the first time that the songs of the talented music composer A.R Rahman have been recreated. He has faced such illegitimate practices a number of times. Earlier, the famous hit song starring Varun Dhawan from the film Avenue Dancer 3D was a remake of the song Muqabla.
This unhealthy practice of remixing tunes and songs whenever a new Bollywood movie is created is morally wrong. Amongst the other songs which were recreated with remixing include Humma Humma, Ankhiyon Se Goli Mare, Tamma Tamma, Ole Ole, O Saki Saki, and many others.
Thus, it becomes very clear that a few people in the industry are not willing to take their own efforts and go through sleepless nights to create their own pieces of art. Rather they are depending upon the hard work of some original content.
With such given instances, it will become difficult to sustain in this field of work where nothing but talent sustains. Don’t you think it’s time now that the people start working their spines out rather than climbing the spines of others?
