Mission Impossible Sequel: Christopher McQuarrie told the media sources about the return of actors Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, and Ving Rhames. The filmmaker has decided to cast them for his Mission: Impossible films. With the star-cast he has decided to have at least two back-to-back films.
McQuarrie has already penned down his idea and has revealed that Tom Cruise will be featured as Ethan Hunt for the long-running franchise. On the concerned podcast “Light The Fuse”, the director confirmed the news that the talented actors including, Ferguson, Kirby, and Rhames will be playing the characters of Isla Faust, White Widow, and Luther Stickell. On the podcast, the filmmaker made a virtual appearance along with his new star-cast member Hayley Atwell and Pegg.
He was teasing his cast by not revealing the new star-cast member and chooses to keep his identity a secret. He wanted it to be suspense so that the entire cast could be really excited about the new member. In an interview, the filmmaker said, “There is someone we were talking to before the world blew up. An actor I was very excited about. I don’t know where that is, because we had talked days before (the shutdown) and it was an incredibly exciting casting coup.”
The filmmaker is very well known in the Hollywood industry for his earlier projects Rogue Nation, which was released in 2015 and Fallout, which was released in 2018. Both the projects received great responses from the audience and the work of the filmmaker was applauded by the other filmmakers as well.
The filmmaker revealed what the experience was while working for Fallout. He said that when it came to the actor Tom Cruise he wanted to make Hunt’s journey very emotional so that the audience could relate. McQuarrie claimed that he learned a lot many things and aspects form the film and wanted to make sure that he applied the same for each and every character in the film.
He wanted the film to be experienced by each and every member of the star-cast. Across the board he wanted to make an emotional rollercoaster ride for the audience so that they are swept off their feet with the lovely concept.
The filmmaker realized that the film was about 2 hours and 40 minutes long, which means that the time exceeds, and then it becomes difficult to grasp the attention of the audience. Furthermore, the scenes could not even be scrapped simply because they were significant for connecting the story and building a beautiful journey.
He further added that it was only due to these two films that he was able to discover the concept and idea of the next film. The ending of the first film gave him a crisp idea about the same. Everyone knew the ending and the beginning of the film really well. And with the two sequences, he figured out the concept for Mission: Impossible.
The director also spoke about the character, which was very well played by Atwell. He is very well known for playing the character of Peggy Crater in the film Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was in this film, that the director found the essence, which was really significant for the core team.
The Paramount Pictures have pushed the slated release date of the films due to the ground situation caused by the Coronavirus pandemic. The 7th and the 8th chapter of Mission Impossible were slated to be released on July 23 and August 5 respectively, this year. However, 2020 had some other plans for the Hollywood industry. The sequels will now hit the theatres on November 19, 2021, and November 4, 2022.
Given the global condition, the decision taken by the producers seems just fine. However, the movie buffs will have to wait for a very long time.
