Filmmaker Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari is recently working on a real-life couple biopic. The biopic is based on Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy and author Sudha Murthy. The director is happy with her directorial project and says that she is satisfied that she has chosen to bring their inspiring story on the big screen; however, she confessed that it is a great challenge to work on this real-life story.
Ashwiny is already known for her films Bareily Ki Barfi, Nil Battey Sannata, Panga and more.
During an interview with PTI, she says that she is admired by the strong yet straightforward personality of the victorious couple, “It is only a movie about Sudha Murthy, there are two strong personalities in the movie Sudha and Narayan. The title of the movie is Murthy, the meaning of which is what makes a difference. They are really very simple people, but they have done so much for society and our nation.”
To this, she adds, “I felt their story needs to be conveyed to everyone. It so happened that I was destined to be chosen to tell the story. When they met me, they said, I am the right person to tell their story as my track record is good and that means don’t show any kissing scenes.”
Further, she adds, “The film has been tentatively named as Murthy, and will be co-written by Shreya Jain, Piyush Gupta and Ashwiny’s husband, the filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari.”
Gossiping about her first biopic, she says “We are still penning it down. We are focused on getting it penned correctly. A biopic cannot be just written like a biopic, it should be written in a good graph as the character sketched should be portrayed perfectly! If I just portray them exactly as it is, it will be like a documentary. Although it is challenging. I have to meet a lot of people and take their point of view into consideration about their lives.”
Ashwiny’s last movie venture was Kangana Ranaut starrer Panga, and according to reports she also has been roped into being a co-producer with Ekta Kapoor for a film.
During an interview, she said, “I am co-producing a movie with her. We are already done with the writing, and now it comes down to go to the actors. The upcoming film is going to be a rom-com and will have my signature touch.”
However, coming back to her upcoming biopic project ‘Murthy’, there has been no confirmation about the crew and the cast yet. Ashwiny says that she is still in the pre-production phase.
